Miracle Ear was the first company to offer an in the ear hearing aid. The company was started in the mid-twentieth century. Miracle Ear Centers have over twelve hundred locations across the United States.
Many of the locations are in Sears stores.

Miracle Ear offers free hearing tests. After the hearing test, the hearing professional helps the customer choose the best hearing aid for the customer’s budget, lifestyle, and hearing impairment.

Miracle Ear has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) on a scale from A+ to F. The Better Business Bureau also indicates in its report that no customer Miracle Ear complaints have been filed during their current reporting period of thirty-six months. This refers to the Miracle Ear headquarters. Some franchises may have complaints and lower ratings.

Common hearing aid customer complaints have to do with the cost of the hearing aids and the lack of insurance coverage. Other common complaints include less than satisfactory service and poor customer service. Some complaints are dissatisfaction with the functioning of the hearing aids.

The standard thirty day trial period is often a problem for customers. When a customer purchases hearing aids and begins wearing them, the customer must have a chance to get used to the hearing aids.

If the hearing aids are not helping the customer, the hearing specialist often recommends an adjustment. It is common to need several adjustments. By the time the customer determines that the adjustments are not correcting the lack of effectiveness of the hearing aids, the trial period has typically ended.

Some Miracle Ear complaints from customers included feedback, skin irritation near the ear canal, poor customer service from the staff of one of their locations, and a lack of ability to hear despite wearing the hearing aids and receiving adjustments from the audiologist. Many hearing aid companies receive similar complaints.

Hearing aid complaints seem to be indicative of problems with the hearing aid industry. This is not restricted to one company. Hearing aid customers may need to be their own advocates to ensure that they get what they paid for.

If the company refuses to honor their contract or the customer has other hearing aid complaints, the customer should discuss the problem with the company. If the customer is not satisfied with the result, the customer has the option of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

A Bluetooth hearing aid is a hearing aid that incorporates the Bluetooth technology. Many hearing ad users find it difficult to comfortably use telephones, televisions, and other electronics with audio. The Bluetooth technology can make listening to electronic devices more comfortable and convenient for hearing aid users.

Bluetooth is the technology used to allow mobile phone users to engage in phone calls via their wireless Bluetooth headset. Bluetooth also can be used to transfer files through this wireless connection. The application of this technology to hearing aids has many benefits.

Several companies make hearing aids that utilize the Bluetooth wireless technology. ReSound and Siemens are examples of hearing aid companies that make Bluetooth hearing aids.

One inventor recently modified a Bluetooth handset to double as a hearing aid. The device can be used to amplify sound that is not over the phone. When the person makes or receives a phone call, the Bluetooth hearing aid switches to Bluetooth mode.

Hearing aids with Bluetooth allow the hearing aid user to receive the sound from electronic devices directly to the hearing aid by a wireless connection. In doing so, Bluetooth hearing aids allow the user to listen more comfortable and clearly to televisions, MP3 players, computers, and cell phones with Bluetooth capabilities.

When a hearing aid user uses the Bluetooth hearing aid to make or receive a phone call with a cell phone with Bluetooth technology, the hearing aid user does not need to hold the cell phone to their ear or listen with the speaker phone.

Siemens Bluetooth hearing aids use a device that they call the Tek transmitter to allow the user to have wireless connection to other electronics with Bluetooth technology. The use of the Tek transmitter provides sound in stereo from these electronic devices. When using Bluetooth with a television, stereo, MP3 player, or telephone, the hearing aids act as wireless headsets.

A hearing professional can describe the benefits of a Bluetooth hearing aid for the individual. Not everyone may find this technology valuable, but many hearing aid users enjoy the comfort and ease of use of Bluetooth technology for their hearing aids.

The remote microphone (RM) hearing aids are similar to BTE hearing aids. They have the microphone in the piece that fits behind the ear. The fit and comfort is like open fit hearing aids. Many hearing aid users find open fit hearing aids to provide the most listening comfort.

Be by ReSound is the remote microphone hearing aid. The Be hearing aids are more discreet than traditional behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids. Hearing aid users may experience less wind noise with this type of hearing aid due to the placement and design of the ear piece.

ReSound’s Ziga hearing aid combines affordability and good quality of sound. The Ziga ReSound hearing aids are options for people with mild to profound hearing loss. The Ziga hearing aid is available as behind-the-ear (BTE) and the variations of the custom in-the-ear hearing aid models.

The in-the-ear hearing aids are customized to mold to the hearing aid users’ ears. They are available in different sizes including full shell, half shell, canal, mini canal, and completely-in-canal (CIC).

There are several other ReSound hearing aids available. Part of the job of the audiologist or hearing professional is to inform the hearing aid user of the best suited hearing aids for them.

Lyric hearing aids fit completely in the ear canal which makes them invisible to others. These completely-in-canal hearing aids must be inserted by an audiologist or hearing specialist.

The outer construction of these tiny hearing aids is a soft material meant to conform comfortably to the contour of the ear canal. Lyric hearing aids are not removed by the user like other models of hearing aids.

The hearing aid user does all their normal activities including showering and even swimming with these hearing aids in place. They can be used while talking on the phone and kept in while sleeping.

Many users of these hearing aids claim that the sound is more natural than they experienced with other hearing aids. Lyric hearing aids do not require the replacement of hearing aid batteries. The battery is designed to last up to one hundred twenty days.

Lyric hearing aids do not use settings and channels like other hearing aids. The need for these is replaced by the use of the outer ear to naturally direct sound into the ear canal. The Lyric hearing aid is sold by subscription. The hearing aid user purchases a year-long subscription for the Lyric hearing aid.

The hearing aid user visits the audiologist for replacements of the Lyric hearing aid. If the technology has improved, the newest Lyric hearing aid will be inserted when the hearing aid user returns to the audiologist for a replacement.

The volume of the Lyric hearing aids is adjusted by the user with the use of a Soundlync adjustment tool that is provided at the time the hearing aid is purchased. The Soundlync adjustment tools also have a magnet to allow the user to remove the hearing aid if this becomes necessary.

Lyric is offering a risk-free trial for hearing aid users. The annual subscription is dated for the first day of the trial period. Though the hearing aid user is allowed to try it free at first, the audiologist may charge fees for their services.

Lyric hearing aids are not the best hearing aids for everyone. The Lyric hearing aids are designed to help people with a mild to moderately-severe hearing impairment. The hearing professional can inform hearing aid users if Lyric would be a good option for them.

An open fit hearing aid is a behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid that does not have the large ear mold that a traditional BTE hearing aid has. Instead, the tubing of the open fit hearing aids fits into the ear canal.

A behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid has the electronic components of the hearing aid in a casing that fits behind the ear. A plastic tube carries the sound to an ear mold that fits over the ear canal. A mini behind-the-ear hearing aid has a receiver that is much smaller than an ear mold. The open fit hearing aid takes this minimization one step further and has no receiver to block the ear canal.

Since the ear canal is not blocked by an ear mold, the open fit model of hearing aids does not cause a sense of occlusion like many hearing aids. When the ear canal is blocked by a ear mold or hearing aid, the hearing aid user may experience occlusion or the sense that the sounds are being heard in a small, confined space.

Occlusion is one of the most common complaints of hearing aid users. Some hearing aid users describe occlusion as feeling as though they are hearing sound in a barrel. Some hearing aid users of other models of hearing aids feel as though their ears are plugged up.

Eliminating occlusion is a considerable advantage of open fit hearing aids. Many hearing aid users who do not regularly use their hearing aids claim that occlusion is the reason for their lack of hearing aid usage.

Another benefit to open fit hearing aids is that ear wax is less likely to interfere with the small tubing. Therefore, the functioning of the hearing aid will not be impaired by earwax. An open fit hearing aid may be the best choice for someone who experiences such earwax problems with other hearing aid models.

Open fit hearing aids are one of the models offered by companies that provide hearing aids that are not customized for the hearing aid user. The lack of a need of fittings and customization allows some companies to sell these hearing aids cheaply and directly to the public without an audiologist.

Audibel makes a variety of hearing aids to suit the needs of many hearing aid users. The product line of Audibel hearing aids includes different models, features, and hearing aid accessories.

The hearing aid user’s lifestyle is an important factor in determining which hearing aid is best for them. Audibel makes several products designed to meet the challenges of different lifestyles.

The Anthem hearing aid product line includes four basic products. These products are available in many models and colors. Anthem Platinum with IntelliFlex was designed to provide optimum levels of performance, comfort, and the ability to be customized.

IntelliFlex technology that is available with the Anthem products gives the hearing aid three times more power than older technologies. This technology also provides a smoother transition between quiet and loud sounds.

Anthem Gold hearing aids focus on being suitable for people with active lifestyles. Audibel designed Anthem Silver hearing aids for people with social lifestyles. Anthem Bronze hearing aids are for people who are exposed to minimal levels of background noise.

Audibel Anthem behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids come with a new feature called EZ Touch. The hearing aid has a touch-sensitive control that allows the hearing aid user to adjust the settings with a simple touch of the hearing aid. Sliding the finger on the touch control adjusts the volume of the hearing aid.

The Audibel Virtue hearing aid product line focuses on user-friendly use and maintenance. The Virtue Audibel hearing aid is a mini behind-the-ear (BTE) model.

Virtue hearing aids by Audibel have BluWave Signal Processing. This processing system is designed to minimize feedback such as whistling that can be an annoyance for hearing aid users.

Audibel suggests cleaning its hearing aids everyday with a small brush to remove dirt and earwax. The battery life can be extended while the hearing aid is not in use by opening the battery compartment to prevent the battery from being in contact with the hearing aid internal components.

A person with hearing loss should consult an audiologist or hearing professional for information on which type of hearing aid is best suited for their hearing loss and lifestyle. Audibel hearing aids are available in numerous locations across the United States.

The behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids are a practical solution for people with many levels of hearing loss. A BTE hearing aid has one part that fits behind the ear attached to an ear mold by clear plastic tubing.

The part that fits behind the ear holds the hearing aid components. The amplified sound is delivered to the ear canal by the clear tubing to the ear mold.

BTE hearing aids are the largest model of hearing aids. Due to their size, these hearing aids can be more powerful than smaller models. This allows the BTE model to be suitable for more severe hearing loss than some smaller models of hearing aids.

A BTE hearing aid is often easier to adjust than models that fit into the ear canal. The adjustments care made to the piece fitting behind the ear instead of tiny controls on a smaller hearing aid in the ear canal.

The fact that the hearing aid components are held in the part that fits behind the ear and not blocking the ear canal can make for a more comfortable listening experience for many hearing aid users. Since the components do not obstruct the ear canal, the user may not have as much of a sense of occlusion.

Occlusion is feeling as if sound is being heard within an enclosed space. It is often described as hearing in a barrel. One type of BTE hearing aid known as an open-fit hearing aid further reduces occlusion by having an open ear mold.

BTE hearing aids are easy to maintain. The disadvantage to this hearing aid model is that they may be more difficult to conceal than completely-in-canal (CIC) or other tiny hearing aid models.

To overcome this disadvantage, many hearing aid companies make BTE hearing aids in a variety of colors to match hair and skin colors. This helps make the hearing aids a little less noticeable.

The increased size of behind-the-ear hearing aids allows some special features and hearing aid accessories that might not be available for smaller models. A hearing aid user should discuss their hearing aid options with their hearing professional or audiologist.

The Widex company produces several hearing aid options with a variety of features and styles. Hearing aid users may be able to find their ideal hearing aid among the available types of Widex hearing aids. The different models of Widex hearing aids offer different features and accessories.

The Passion 440 Widex hearing aid is the premium hearing aid in their product line. This hearing aid style is called a receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aid by Widex. It appears to be the same as what most companies call an open fit hearing aid. The receiver is in the canal while the rest of the hearing aid is behind the ear.

Passion 440 hearing aids come in a variety of colors. Programs and accessories are available to further personalize the use of this hearing aid. One unique program is the Zen program. The Zen program plays random, non-repeated tones in the hearing aid user’s choice of five styles. The volume, tempo, pitch, and key can be modified to suit the user’s tastes. Providing a pleasant sound background for relaxation is the purpose of the Zen program.

A basic hearing aid model sold by Widex is the REAL product line. REAL hearing aids provide quality hearing aid basics at an affordable price. The REAL Widex hearing aid is available in behind-the-ear (BTE), mini-behind-the-ear, micro-behind-the-ear, in-the-ear (ITE), and completely-in-canal (CIC) styles.

Widex Flash hearing aids are designed to be an affordable hearing aid that is easy to use. Easy listening features such as feedback canceling to reduce whistling and voice amplification are meant to make this hearing aid easy to use as well as increase the quality of the listening experience.

The mind hearing aid products are focused on sound quality for all types of hearing loss. Like the Passion 440 hearing aid, the mind440 hearing aid offers the Zen program. Widex also offers hearing aid accessories especially designed for children to assist their ability to hear speech clearly in the classroom and other noisy settings.

The Widex company is based in Denmark. Widex hearing aids are available in numerous locations worldwide. An audiologist or hearing aid professional helps the hearing aid user choose which of the Widex hearing aids is best suited for their hearing loss, budget, and lifestyle.
